Exchange Square in Manchester will be showing the action

Already getting in to the Olympic spirit but don’t know where to watch it? There are loads of places in the UK showing the Games completely free!

With the Olympics underway, many of you will no doubt excited about watching the best athletes in the world compete. However, if you’re not one of the lucky ones with tickets to events in the capital, don’t worry – there are still plenty of places up and down the UK to soak up the atmosphere.

In cities across Britain there are big screens set up that will be showing all the action from London during the Games, meaning you don’t have to miss a minute.

Britain’s second city, Birmingham, has a screen set up in its historic Victoria Square, outside the town hall. The whole area is pedestrianised, so you’ll feel completely safe while watching the world’s greatest athletes compete.

Other cities showing this summer’s feast of sport include Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Swansea and many more, all on enormous screens that are free to watch thanks to an agreement with the host cities, the BBC and the Olympic organising committee.

Don’t forget that some events are taking place outside of London, and you can still get tickets for some of them. There’s Olympic football in Newcastle, Coventry, Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff, as well as at Wembley stadium.

And between events you can always take in some of the amazing culture that some many UK cities have to offer – have a look at our guide here.
